The Advantages and Disadvantages of Modern Means of Communication

Social networking and many other things are making life simpler for people in contemporary civilizations. In many spheres of life, modern means of communication and technology have sparked numerous developments. High speed in transit, translation, time reduction, information flow between individuals, and other situations. We reviewed and spoke about the causes and effects of poor (disadvantaged) communications in Iraq. The majority of Iraqi networks and communications providers rely on antiquated, ineffective techniques for connecting people. Everyone wants to utilise information technology (IT) and live a contemporary life after the year 2003, but they don’t think about or remember what happened to them when they used networks with poor connection quality.

The objective of this study is to investigate all facets of life, with a focus on those that are more significant for people’s quality of life, such as (health, economy, cost, security, upkeep, high-quality manufacturing, services network, weak internet (wobbling), banks, children’s credit cards or master cards, stack the internet pack, laser planning for life, power outages and irregularities during the day, and environmental pollution). All of these have an impact on life.

We observed an increase in a number of diseases, including cancer, congenital malformations, abnormal births (where a woman gives birth before her due date), hair loss, respiratory infections, skin allergies, and skin spots. The drawer dose is also higher due to its proximity to the radiation source. In addition to the age-related issue, environmental degradation is a worldwide issue that impacts both developed and developing nations in a negative way.

There are a variety of contemporary channels of communication that, when combined, make it possible for people to communicate with one another in a rapid and simple manner.

Some Modern means of Communication:

#1: The World Wide Web

It is a network that enables people to exchange data and information with one another. You may use the internet to do financial transactions, shop from the comfort of your own home, send and receive an email, trade files, participate in audio and video conferences from a distant location, use social networking sites, and do a lot of other things. Internet connectivity has spread to every corner of the globe at this point.

#2: Direct Communications on Social Networking Sites

The private messaging service offered by social media platforms is less formal than that offered by email, and these platforms may also serve as a way of contact between consumers and service providers in order to respond to requests and questions posed by customers.

#3: The Cellular Telephone

People are able to communicate with one another across great distances using the mobile phone, which is a portable communication device. It is one of the most essential contemporary communication technologies, and its development is continuing undoubtedly without ceasing. The mobile phone has evolved into a device that is capable of more than simply voice communication. The most sophisticated versions of mobile phones provide users access to a wide variety of current technology features and functions, such as the ability to use the camera, the radio, voice and call recording programs, and other contemporary technological features and functions.

#4: Smartphones:

Smartphones are generally recognized as one of the most popular and rapidly developing types of communication technology. The ability to make voice and video conversations, as well as send and receive text messages, is one of the most notable features of smartphones, which have become an indispensable component of the lives of millions of people all over the globe. The capacity to store all of one’s photographs, health and financial information, and a great deal of other data in one location. Make it possible for individuals to keep track of their company remotely.

#4: Video Calls:

Though I have mentioned cell phone calls and smartphones but I can not help adding video calls to this list. There are a ton of video calling software and applications that allows video calls.

Advantages of Modern Communication:

There are a lot of benefits that come along with using contemporary ways of communication, including the following:

  • Transmission speed: Messages may be delivered or received within a few seconds.
  • Expansion of coverage areas: the process of communication covered all regions of the earth so that the world has become a little town.
  • Low cost: The application of current techniques considerably decreases the work, cost, and time.
  • Benefit from others: thoughts and notes interchange and an instant reply are achieved on a certain issue.
  • Manage company operations throughout the world. Even one can promote their company through modern means of communication.
  • Businessmen may easily oversee their commercial activities with the use of video conferencing and email technology.

Disadvantages of Modern Communication:

The use of modern means of communication has many unfavourable side effects, including the following: – It has an impact on the formation of relationships as a direct result of the reduction in the frequency of in-person meetings between individuals and the reduction in reliance on actual telephone communication. People are able to create stronger connections with one another when they engage in face-to-face interaction, despite the fact that modern methods of communication make the process of written communication easier.

The information used in modern forms of communication is stored in a single, centralised database, which makes them vulnerable. It is possible that it may be compromised by dishonest individuals, and it could also be attacked by cybercriminals or viruses. – It is important to limit one’s use of modern methods of communication because of the potential dangers they pose to one’s health, particularly due to the low-frequency signalling technology they use. This technology may lead to issues with sleep and weariness, thus its usage should be limited.

#1: Modern Technology Waste of Time:

Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution to the present day, the average person’s life in our society has experienced more change than in the previous few thousand years combined. People’s lives have been profoundly improved as a consequence of the technological revolution, and businesses have been able to attain levels of production that were previously impossible. In recent years, these changes have been brought about as a result of significantly exponential progress.

On the other hand, the tremendous improvements in productivity and efficiency that have been made in recent years have led to the proliferation of business practices that result in immense waste and inefficiency. Because of my experience working on time management with hundreds of business owners, executives, and employees, I’ve come to the conclusion that more than ninety per cent of people waste between fifteen and forty per cent of their workday as a result of technologies that were created as a result of the digital revolution.

#2: Technology Causes Distraction from Work and Study

Both the instructor and the student are attempting to do something at the same time, thus the students’ attention is split between the two activities. The teacher is trying to teach, while the student is trying to accomplish something on the digital device. As a consequence of this, a smaller number of details pertaining to those two activities will be able to be remembered or kept.

Examining the findings of the study that was carried out by neurologist Adam Aron of the University of California San Diego and postdoctoral researcher Jan Wessel is another approach to comprehending the concept of distraction. They discovered that the same mechanism in the brain that is responsible for halting or stopping movement in our body is also responsible for halting intellect.

When you are forced to come to a sudden halt in activity, such as when you get a text message or a notice, this region of the brain is activated, and it helps clear away whatever it was that you were thinking (or what the teacher was teaching). This capability of the brain used to play a vital part for people when they were in perilous situations and required a heightened level of attention to what was going on in the present. On the other hand, when combined with the beeps and whistles of modern technology, this brain activity may have a detrimental effect.

#3: Technology Reduce the Creativity of People

There is a school of thought that contends technology, by inundating all of us with information (also known as “digital distraction”), is stifling our collective capacity for creative thought. Some detractors are of the opinion that there is an excessive amount of knowledge freely accessible to the public and that anyone may get what they want without having to come up with their own concepts.

It’s possible that this is much more significant for kids. These days, children spend less time engaging in creative play and more time playing with technological devices. They do nothing except sit in their room by themselves and stare at a screen for hours on end. Because of this, their capacity for creativity is severely constrained, since they are no longer able to “make” anything.

Children may grow up believing that there is no more magic in the world, leading them to develop depression as a result of the realization that everything has already been done. The feeling of tedium quickly sets in.

It’s totally OK to spend time playing video games. I engage in this activity often in the virtual world. But you should also urge your children to build something! Throw a fresh concept to them and see how they react by coming up with one of their own! Provide them with the opportunity to develop their creative potential and participate in creative activities.

#4: Isolate People:

If someone is addicted to Modern means of Communication they will be isolated from other people. There is a high chance that they will get addicted to it. They will completely ignore the physical meeting and get together.

Conclusion:

Communication has developed with technological advancements throughout the course of time. Smoke signals were one of the oldest modes of communication, which later gave way to the implementation of morse code for usage in military settings. The invention of the telephone marked the beginning of the era of wired communication.

With the invention of the telephone, it became possible for anybody to communicate with another person located in any region of the globe. Mobile phones and smartphones have largely supplanted more conventional means of communication in today’s society. As a result of the proliferation of the internet, everyone now has their own personal mobile phone, and it is now common practice to anticipate that the person being called will pick up their phone when it is their turn to be called.

Virtual forms of communication are becoming indispensable in today’s global society. In their most basic form, they are 21st-century communication platforms. The proliferation of modern communication platforms has made it much simpler for individuals to keep in contact with the people who are closest to them even when they are not physically there. In light of the ongoing worldwide pandemic, there has been an increase in demand for virtual means of communication. This is due to the fact that individuals may continue to be there for their friends and family members while still keeping their social distance.
